(Los Angeles – July 29, 2008) – Disney’s “It Girl,” Selena Gomez, declares to “Extra” that there is no truth behind the reported rivalry between her and fellow teen sensation Miley Cyrus saying, “It’s just the media wanting something to talk about and wanting us to fight…and there’s nothing there to talk about.” As for how Gomez deals with false media reports, she states, “Everywhere you go you’re to hear things that are untrue…You just got to learn that if I don’t say  it, physically out of my mouth, on camera, it’s not true.” When asked how she handles everything that comes with being a rising star, Gomez explains, “It’s overwhelming and there’s a lot to think about…to know there are hundreds of kids out there that look up to me. E Online posted an article about Selena possibly writing songs about Nick Jonas.

A source claims that back in February, the star of Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place wrote a song inspired by the youngest brother of the hitmaking Jonas Brothers trio. "They were writing lyrics for the bridge, and she was saying how Nick makes her so mad when he doesn't call her back," the source tells E! News about the tune, titled "Head First." "The verse was definitely written about Nick Jonas."

According to E Online, Selena has her first record deal with Hollywood Records!

Music execs have been after the starlet for months now, ever since they got the scoop that Disney was crowning her as the next Miley Cyrus...While Hollywood Records is part of the Disney Music Group, I'm told Gomez was courted by others because she doesn't have an exclusive deal. In fact, just this past Saturday, she shot a music video for "Tell Me Something I Don't Know," a single from her upcoming Warner Premiere movie, Another Cinderella Story.

The newest Disney Channel Original Series is now available on DVD! The new “Wizards of Waverly Place: Wizard School” DVD comes packed with three episodes of “Wizards of Waverly Place” including a special hour-long, two part episode.

Wizard School (Parts 1 and 2): Justin gets accepted into Wiz Tech, a very prestigious wizard summer school. When Alex proves to have no discipline her parents send her there as well. While at Wiz Tech Justin finds himself in a predicament where he may get his powers drained by the evil professor Dr. Evilini. Will Alex be able to save her brothers powers before it’s too late?

Curb Your Dragon: Alex buys Justin a dog, not just a dog, but a dragon disguised as a dog. Will they be able to keep the dog’s true identity from their parents and away from a crafty salesman?  Let’s just say things get catty…and doggy for that matter.

Disenchanted Evening: Jerry Russo and Theresa Russo are very strict with their kids when it comes to using magic, Alex is not to happy with that especially when she meets a fellow wizard at school who can use magic whenever he wants.  She invites him and his family over to convince her parents to be a little less strict, but instead he charms her parents just like he did to his own parents. The freedom is nice for a while, but the kids quickly learn that the restrictions were put in place for their safety. When they get into a major problem, their parents can’t help due to the charm. Will they be able to break the charm in order to restore order?

Selena Gomez has been nominated for 2008 ALMA Award. The National Council of La Raza presents the award annually to Latino entertainers in film and television. Eva Longoria Parker is the host, it will air on ABC September 12.
Selena was nominated for Outstanding Female Performance in a Comedy Series and her Wizards of Waverly Place costar Jake T. Austin was nominated for Outstanding Male Performance in a Comedy Series. Full list of nominees here.
