Entertainment Weekly believes Selena is going to be even bigger in '09. She is #7 on their list of Rising Stars: Nine to Watch in 2009.
Here's what they have to say:
SELENA GOMEZ
Where you've seen her: Starring in the popular Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place — and slyly deflecting rumors of a romantic attachment to (omigod!) youngest Jonas Brother Nick.
Big in '09 because: She'll star with BFF Demi Lovato (they met years ago on the set of Barney and Friends) in the made-for-Disney movie Princess Protection Program, and also follow in Lovato's musical footsteps, releasing an album of rock-influenced pop — most likely by next summer. — Leah Greenblatt

People.com has an article about Demi Lovato and talks a little bit about her friendship with Selena Gomez:
Shares Secrets with Selena
Lovato, who will soon star on Disney Channel's Sonny with a Chance, also raves another celebrity BFF: fellow Disney star Selena Gomez, 16.
"I can totally go to her with any problem and she will not judge me, no matter what," Lovato says. "I can trust her with anything, and she can trust me. We'll definitely take each others' secrets to the grave.
Despite their successes this year, Lovato says one reason the two remain close is that they enjoy hanging out with each other – away from the red carpet.
"I'll meet other actors who are like, 'Let's go to a party,'" she says. "But Selena and I would rather rent a horror movie and just eat pickles. That's our ideal sleepover. … It's just crazy to realize that Selena and I have known each other almost our entire lives."
